Six-Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven process for reducing variation, reducing defects and improving customer satisfaction.
Through the use of a variety of quality tools and a disciplined approach called "DMAIC", or Define - Measure - Analyze - Improve - Control, the Six-Sigma method uses a team approach to reduce variation, reduce defects and improve value-added to the customer (and the business).
Because of the Six-Sigma method's focus on measurable results and customer satisfaction, a properly implemented Six-Sigma effort will produce tangible monetary results for your company and improve your customer's experience as well. Juran Institute reports 95% inventory reduction, 78% cut in lead times, 85% reduction in required floor space and 33% reduction in waste from Six-Sigma implementations.
Perhaps most significant, the Six-Sigma methodology is equally applicable to manufacturing processes and service processes. From processes such as order-entry and customer service, to welding or assembly, the DMAIC approach can be applied to reduce waste, eliminate defects and improve how your customers perceive your product or service.
