Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Although on the surface, PPAP, or Production Part Approval Process, may appear to simply be a first-sample submission procedure, it is in fact much more than this. The PPAP package provides your customer with evidence of your effectively implemented APQP process. It provides your customer a snapshot of your quality system as it applies to the specific product he will buy and provides you with signed approval from him that it meets his requirements. The PPAP package includes many of the documents that result from the activities in your Product Quality Plan, such as the Design and Process FMEA's, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis and Process Capability Studies.
